The camping area of Boca das Voltas is located on the North Coast of Madeira Island, more precisely in São Jorge at an altitude of roughly 750 meters. This camping area is placed in a remote place, right in the middle of Laurissilva. You will have to take a TT vehicle or walk for 40min. From there you will have some amazing panoramic views over the valley of Boa Ventura and it's green moutains.

On clear nights this is a perfect camping area for watching stars, since it's far from city lights. When using the fireplace make sure to leave it clean and tidy. There are no garbage containers, so you must take all the garbage with in return with you.

Chão do Pasto

Chão do Pasto camping area is a flat area next to the regional road 202. On both sides of the road you can set up your camp, but only on the East side you have fireplaces and picnic tables. Located at 1360 m altitude and along the slopes of the mountains, is a subject to some fog zone. In the Winter periods a small pond is created due to the rain.

Chão das Feiteiras

"Chão das Feiteiras" is the only plateau in Machico. It's a very green area surrounded by cedars that offer cool shade in summer. Situated just North of Poiso to about 1200m altitude, the nights are often cold, even in summer. The area is close to sheep pastures, so you might be surprised by one of them. The area has fireplaces, picnic tables and drinking water.
